Sir Castanon
Sir Castanon performs "Chandelier"
on Ryan and Randi Presents

R&R: We have been hearing rave reviews about your performances on TV, film, and stage. When you rode out from your kingdom in Denver nearly six years ago and charged onto the entertainment and music scene here in L.A., did you have any idea how successful you would be?

SC: I came out here because I loved acting and singing... I had absolutely no clue that my career would be as successful as it is. I am so thankful everyday for having parents and grandparents who believe in me and my dream.

R&R: Congrats on earning the "Young Artist Award" for your chilling performance on TV's The Ghost Whisperer! How did you feel when you found out?

SC: Thanks! I was shocked. There is no feeling to even describe how I felt. It was... amazing! I was SO little back then...it is funny to go back and watch that show now!

R&R: We thought you were HILARIOUS as Adam Sandler's son in the movie Click. Were you able to give him some pointers on comedic acting (or vice versa)?

SC: He definitely is a VERY funny guy. We would be shooting my scenes, and he would always try and make me break character cause my role was more serious. He got me a couple of times! lol Actually, he has become a friend to me and my family. He called me from a Laker game because he heard that my great grandpa passed away...I think his thoughtfulness is more important than him being a funny guy! He really is awesome!

R&R: It's obvious that you're becoming one of the most recognized young faces on TV--how is that different from the experience of filming a movie?

SC: TV shows take a lot less time to shoot. Movies can take a couple months to even over a year, but shooting them are definitely a blast.

Randi: One of your earliest acting gigs was performing in a McDonald's commercial--that's one of Ryan's fave restaurants (Ryan--YUMMMM!!!). Are you a Quarter Pounder kind of guy, or a Big Mac kind of guy?

SC: I'm actually a #7 kinda guy! I love my Angus Bacon & Cheeseburger!

R&R: You have some great videos on your website of your live performances at such venues as The Knitting Factory in L.A. How often do your fans get to see you perform on stage?
SC: I try to perform as much as I can because I love performing! I'm actually getting ready to start a Stay in School Tour that is 7 weeks long. I also perform a lot at charity events because I feel we all need to do our part, and I get to have fun doing it. You can check out www.sircastanon.com to keep updated on show dates.

R&R: We've heard that you choreograph your own dance routines (check out "Puppeteer!); where do you get the inspiration for your routines?

SC: I watch a LOT of music videos! Dancing is one of my favorite ways of expressing myself! I choreograph a lot of things for myself, but when I have dancers we pull in the big choreographers for that. Puppeteer was actually choreographed by Tera Perez, who is currently on tour with JLo.

Randi: I wanna hear about your mad ballroom dancing skills--when and where did you learn, and do you think you might be getting a call from "Dancing with the Stars?" (I hope I will!--S.C.)

SC: I learned at my 6th grade school and made the finals to go to a big competition! It's where I found my love for dancing. Dancing with the Stars better watch out, cause I'm coming!

R&R: You know we're all about drama! What do you think your background in theatre has taught you, and do you think it's important for an actor to maintain a link to the theatre?

SC: Theatre is a great experience, especially because it's LIVE. It gives you a lesson on accidents that might happen, or mishaps, and I think it's a very good tool to have on your side, especially doing performances. You never know what is going to happen, so you just gotta role with it!

Ryan: Sir Castanon, do you believe that chivalry is really dead, or can girls today still expect their knight in shining armor to ride in on a white horse? (Randi--I personally think it could be problematic on dates with parking around here…)

SC: hahaha....I do NOT think chivalry is dead. I heard it's actually coming back! If not, I will make it the new trend!

R&R: Sir Castanon, like one of your songs says, definitely "You Got It"--and we're so glad you're going to perform one of your other songs, "Chandelier," for us and all your fans on "Ryan and Randi Presents!" Thanks for taking the time to talk to us!

SC: Thanks so much for this opportunity! Can't Wait! Congrats on your show, and I wish you all the success!
